Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry President Riaz Ahmed Tata while strongly condemning the bomb blast in Ali Raza Imambargah has appealed to President General Pervez Musharraf to personally intervene as the rapidly deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi could get out of control if immediate measures were not taken.
Tata said that the business community is very much concerned over the acts of brutal terrorism that have lately become a regular feature in Karachi. The cult of terrorism in the city is manifesting itself in ethnic, political and sectarian forms.
Besides loss of precious and innocent lives, such blatant and cruel acts of terrorism tend to frustrate investment efforts and disrupt normal life.
The terrorists, who are definitely enemies of Pakistan and Islam, after committing acts of terrorism, incite the masses to react violently by destroying public and private properties and paralysing the business operations.
Tata appealed to the president to take urgent notice of the serious law and order situation in Karachi as the local administration seems helpless in combating the growing menace of terrorism.
The FPCCI president reiterated that establishing and maintaining law and order across the country, particularly in Karachi, is the most important prerequisite for promoting business and investment in Pakistan.
He appealed to the president to give top priority to maintenance of law and order for which an affective strategy should be devised and forcefully implemented.
