There would be no increase in the Punjab University fee in its coming budget for the year 2004-05 to be presented by end of this month.
Punjab University Vice Chancellor Arshad Mahmood said this while speaking to the University officials here on Tuesday.
He said that the budget would be of Rs 1.4 billion, and the amount of scholarships would be increased to Rs 30 million for 4,000 needy and talented students.
He said that in the financial year 2003-04, Rs 21.6 million scholarships had been distributed among the 3,000 students.
He said Rs 5.4 million scholarships were awarded to students in the year 2000, Rs 7.9 million in year 2001 and Rs 14.4 million in 2002.
According to him, this year the scholarship amount was being increased to Rs 30 million to facilitate more students.
The university income had increased by 90.869 percent from Rs 419.702 million in the year 2002 to Rs 801.080 million in 2003.
