Chairman of Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Tariq Hamid went round the polling stations set up here at the Wapda House and the Sunny View to facilitate referendum for the establishment of collective bargaining agent (CBA).
General-Manager, administration, Brig. Muhammad Najam-us-Saqib accompanied him.
The referendum was conducted under the auspices of National Industrial Relations Commission throughout the country on Thursday.
The Wapda chief expressed satisfaction over arrangements made for the referendum and the peaceful and smooth activity of casting of votes by the Wapda workers.
Talking to newsmen on the occasion, Tariq said the government is considering to provide relief to electricity consumers but major portion of the relief would be extended to industrial and commercial consumers.
According to reports received from the central offices of Wapda, Pegham Union and Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union, Wapda workers took part in the referendum.
Both the groups are optimistic about their success in the referendum. The counting of votes was in progress till the filing of this report.
