Punjab Assembly has unanimously passed a resolution in favour of early implementation of the 7th Wage Board Award for journalists and other employees of newspapers.
The Treasury and Opposition benches jointly moved the resolution, which was tabled, before the House, by MPAs Asad Ashraf and Rana Shafqat Abbasi.
The resolution said that it was unfortunate that the journalists and press workers were waiting for the implementation of the 7th Wage Board Award for the last two and half years.
The House requested the Federal government to play its due role for the implementation of this award and also link government advertisements with its implementation, as was advocated by Federal Information Minister Sheikh Rashid in the Nation Assembly.
