The 3rd International Bhurban Conference on Applied Sciences and Technology (Ibcast) will be held here from June 7 to 12 under the auspices of National Centre for Physics.
Dr Samar Maubarakmand chairman National Engineering and Scientific Commission (Nescom) will be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony.
The six-day scientific discourse is meant to bridge the ever-widening information gap between the North and the South.
This activity first started in 1995 as part of International Nathiagali Summer College where it was organised as a separate one-week activity.
The interest and scope of the activity expanded in the past years and the organisers felt the need of a separate platform to launch the activity.
The Ibcast came into existence in 2001 and it covers a wide range of topics in applied sciences and technologies.
The main objectives of Ibcast are to break the isolation of the region with particular reference to challenges and opportunities offered by the accelerating exchange of ideas and discussions on scientific-technological issues.
It also helps creating further collaboration between scientists and engineers in different parts of the world, and to emphasise the need, and to find ways and means, for the application of modern technological developments with special reference to the needs and requirements of developing countries.
The conference will consist of four activities including Control & Simulation, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Advanced Materials and Wireless Communication and radars.
Simulation has now become an indispensable part of the engineering design process. Breakthroughs in the field of computer hardware and software have greatly helped developments in the field of simulation technologies.
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a technique to model fluid flow using a computer simulation. Due to the growth of powerful computers and the development of general-purpose software packages, CFD techniques can be applied to sole industrial flow problems especially in complex flow situations of aerodynamics and hydrodynamics.
The research work in alloys and ceramics has played a big role in advanced engineering materials, so the newer research in these fields will be included in the scope of activity.
The current trends in the research and development of composite materials including the nano-composites have shown enormous potential and promise, thus, the scope of the activity on Advanced Material will predominantly include the campsite fields.
The fields of wireless communication and radars have experienced unprecedented growth and development in the recent past. Recognising the importance of this field technology, Ibcast has planned a dedicated three-day activity on this topic.
A good number of eminent scientists, engineers, technologists and faculty members from USA, UK, China, Australia Medico, Singapore, Hong Kong, Belarus, Macedonia and Saudi Arabia will participate in this conference.
Prominent among those scientists are Dr Zhang Hong Yue, Dr Mahmood Nagrial, Dr Foud M. Al-Sunni, Professor Dr Ruben Avila, Dr Chang Shu, Dr Tahir Naqvi, Professor Jang-Kyo Kim, Dr Yunfa Chen, Dr Asrar U. H. Sheikh, Dr Salahuddin Qazi and Dr Saeed Rajput.
Scientists, engineers from leading research organisations of Pakistan and delegations from educational institutions will also read research papers during the course of the conference.
