The Inspector General Police NWFP Muhammad Raffat Pasha has directed Kohat region police officers to further beef up security measures by ensuring sectarian harmony and pre-empt and prevent all kind of terrorist activities well in time.
During his visit to Kohat, he issued these directives to Kohat region police high ups in a meeting held at Kohat Officer Club on Monday.
The police chief pointed out that a few handful miscreants were bent upon to create disunity and hatredness in the ranks and files of the Muslim and were using all tactics to fulfil their nefarious designs and reminded the participants that in such a situation the responsibilities of police force increased manifold which demanded of them to be vigilant and alert round the clock.
The IGP also stressed the need for close liaison with religious leaders of different sects and directed the police to enhance vigilance on worship places and deal with the sectarian terrorists and law-breakers with iron hands.
They were also directed to further improve their intelligence network and put an effective halt to the anti-state elements.
The police chief also took strong notice of the re-emerging trend of vulgarity and obscenity in the society and directed the police officers to constitute police-public liaison committees for this purpose, which will regularly hold meetings and will strive hard for eradication of obscenity from the society.
However, he strictly asked the police that they must remain in forefront in this campaign.
The police chief also termed road blockade as against interest of the state and directed the participants of the meeting to keep close contact with Crises Management Unit of Wapda and register cases against the violators.
The provincial police officer pointed out that weapons was root cause of all evils and menace in the society and directed the police to discourage arms carrying and displaying in public places and bring to book the violators. They were also directed to launch a special campaign against the proclaimed offenders and smash their dens.
