Average prices paid to cocoa farmers in Ivory Coast mainly rose in the week to June 6, data from the Coffee and Cocoa Bourse (BCC) marketing body showed on Tuesday.
Producers said buying had picked up during the period after a rise in world market prices, even though farmgate prices in the bush remained below the indicative level of 375 CFA francs ($0.70) set by the BCC.
"I received 250 CFA francs per kg during the week, compared to 225 CFA francs previously," said a farmer based in the western town of Gagnoa.
He added several farmers in the region were willing to sell their beans at that kind of price, worrying the approaching rainy season could hit the quality of beans stored in poor conditions in the bush.

Included are prices paid on delivery at San Pedro and Abidjan ports.
