Islam enjoins upon us to ensure fair and equal treatment to the minorities and that they are treated at par with others in the country.
This was observed by the Senate Standing Committee on "Minorities Affairs."
The meeting was chaired by Senator Maulana Sami-ul-Haq here in the Parliament House.
The committee strongly dispelled the impression created by the vested interests at the international level that the minorities were not given fair treatment.
It underlined the need for projecting the true image of Islam at the international level and also for highlighting the fact that the minorities in the country were given due respect in the society as respectable citizens.
The committee made these observations, while having a briefing on the working/performance of the Ministry of Minorities Affairs and its attached departments.
The meeting was attended, besides the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Maulana Sami-ul-Haq and Senators, Mohammad Ajmal Khan, Nighat Mirza, Engr. Rashid Ahmed Khan, Maulana Abdul Malik Qadari, Mohammad Abbas Komaili, Syed Hidayatullah Shah and Maulvi Agha Mohammad. Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Minorities Affairs, and senior officers of the Ministry of Minorities Affairs were also present.
