Per capita income rise rate lower than 2002-03

The rise in per capita income continued during the fiscal year 2003-04 but its rate was comparatively lower in comparison with last year.
This has been shown in the Pakistan Economic Survey for 2003-04 launched by Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz at a news conference here on Friday.
The per capita income in 2003-04, according to the Survey, increased by 12 percent to $652 from $582 of 2002-03.
This increase was slightly lower than the 15.7 percent of last year, resulting in average growth of 13.9 percent per annum for two years, the Survey said.
The economic managers of Finance Ministry held the decline in net factor income from abroad (mainly remittances) responsible for relatively low increase in the per capita income.
