The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) on Saturday issued 'Export Guide' carrying data on duty drawback rates, HS code of each item, schedule slabs and other information required for the declaration of goods to be exported.
The compendium called 'HS Codes Guide for Export', issued in the format of 'Pakistan Customs Tariff', would be effective from June 14, 2004.
Sources told Business Recorder that the 'Guide' would help the exporters in applying the exact standard duty drawback SRO in case of each export item. It would specify approved Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT Codes/HS Code) required for declaration of export goods.
The CBR is taking a number of steps to speed up the processing of rebate claims. Recently, the CBR announced that the exporters would get rebate and duty drawback within a few minutes of the departure of the vessel carrying export consignment, using new customs computerised system.
A new computerised system called 'Rebate Claim Tracking System' is also under consideration. It would help the exporters in finding the rebate claim status.
The 'Guide' was prepared during the tenure of former CBR Member Exports Mumtaz Haider Rizvi, who finalised the database for the guide.
The guide has 97 chapters covering all export goods including textile and textile products. The information is available in the MS Excel Format.
This would be for the first time that exporters would have the facility to get information regarding applicability of duty drawback SRO in case of each export item.
For example, the exporter of cigarettes can avail duty drawback under SRO. 2(I)/91. The exporters of textile products made from blended fabrics of polyester staple fibres and cotton, grey can claim duty drawback under SRO.412(I)/ 2001.
Similarly, the guide specifies the description of all textile products on which standard duty drawback SROs are applicable including SRO.412(I)/2001, SRO.414(I)/ 2001 etc.
