The police is still groping in dark in the case of British educationist Alan Cox (60), who was assassinated on June 3 at 0800 pm in Multan city.
However, the police have widened the circle of probe and recorded the statements of an Assistant Commissioner (Income Tax) and a Pathan of Fata, who frequently met him.
A high-level meeting was held on Wednesday in the Police Lines under the chairmanship of Deputy Inspector General of Police, Multan Range, Talat Mehmood Tariq, in which, the Police officers discussed all aspects of the case.
They admitted their failure in reaching any conclusion and apprehending the killers.
The DIG said: "We have interrogated over 100 people, including the pupils, friends and neighbours, but we did not reach any conclusion. Though we have collected many fruitful information from his computer, and list of his friends. More than 500 photographs of pretty boys of study sessions which were also attended by some other foreigners.
"Whenever we reach any conclusion, the cause of murder suddenly change. We, however, would soon solve the mystery of this case as we have thoroughly examined the photo album of Alan Cox which were preserved in the computer, and we believed the Alan was killed by a body builder, and his accomplice and their photographs were also recognised by the eye witnesses", said SP (investigation) Sikandar Hayat.
He said the police have preserved their photographs in their file to ensure their arrest. However, these were not recognised by the pupils of Alan Cox, and they categorically stated that they never saw them with him.
The police have also contacted body building clubs in the country to know identification of this body builder, and it had also recommended to fix the head money of these killers so that people could co-operate with the police in their arrest, he added.
"We are confident that arrest of these two persons would help in finding the causes of murder of the British educationist, because these were identified by the eye witnesses," said DPO Hamid Mukhtar Gondal.
He admitted that it was very difficult to deal with blind murder case, the mystery still shrouded, why they killed him, and it would be divulged when these alleged killers would be arrested.
