China's First Auto Works (FAW) has ordered the recall of some 100,000 automobiles made at its joint venture plants with Honda Motors Co and Mazda Motor Co for potential fuel tank problems, the company said on its websites.
Some 70,000 Honda Accords manufactured at the joint venture Guangzhou Honda plant from January 15 to October 29, 2003 were being recalled for inspections for fuel tank welding cracks, the company said on its factory website.
Up to some 30,000 Mazda 6 cars, manufactured at a plant in southern China's Hainan province, were also being recalled to fix a design flaw that placed the car's fuel tank too close to hot exhaust pipes, the company said in a separate announcement.
