All district governments have completed arrangements for rescue measures needed to protect human lives and livestock during the expected flood and monsoon rains.
Punjab minister for Revenue and Relief, Gul Hameed Rokri said this while talking to reporters in his chamber in the Punjab Assembly here on Monday, according to a handout.
"The provincial government is in constant touch with district governments as well as with army officials in this regard," he said, adding that the department has already provided boats and other important items needed to shift people and livestock to safer places in case of floods.
Pak Army has been given 380 plain boats, 336 fibreglass boats, and 15 rubber boats for relief and rescue operations, while another 85 fibre boats would be provided later, he said.
Food items as well as other relief equipment, including small motorboats and 8,232 life jackets have also been provided.
District co-ordination officers have been given 4,920 tents, 7,400 blankets while the City District Government (CDG) has been given 430 de-watering pumps for Lahore, while 65 such pumps have been given to the army for other districts.
He said that the provincial chief minister has reviewed the pre-flood arrangements, and has directed all the concerned agencies to remain on high alert. He has also released the necessary funds, the minister added.
