The Consulate General of Japan in Karachi is constructing its new office building adjacent to the Frere Hall.
This was stated by Consul General of Japan here in Karachi, Kanji Hanagata on Sunday.
He was speaking at a dinner hosted by the Japan External Trade Organisation (Jetro) to bid farewell to its outgoing Director General Osamu Mizui and welcome the incoming one, Hiroyuki Miyagawa, at a local hotel.
Kanji said the construction of the new building would be completed by March next year. It was his desire to complete the construction of the new office building on schedule, he added.
He further said it would help provide some meeting space for the businessmen of Pakistan and Japan. The Consulate handled some 20-visa applications in a day, he informed. Referring to a local magazine report, the Consul General clarified that there had been no violation of the Karachi Building Control Authority's rules and regulations.
He pointed out that at the existing premises of the Japanese Consulate at Dawoodpota Road, there had been no traffic congestions because of the Consulate building.
Kanji said the new building of the Japanese Consulate would also contribute towards enhancing the image of Karachi and that of Pakistan at the international level. He also highlighted the significance of Karachi as a business hub.
