The Sui Southern Gas Company has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Suparco for the procurement of 'Digital Scenes of SPOT-5 Satellite' (2.5 m resolution, black & white) covering company's transmission and distribution network for its GIS Project.
Speaking on the occasion here on Wednesday, the Chairman Suparco, Major General Raza Hussain (Retd) highlighted the importance of satellite image in the preparation of GIS.
He offered to co-operate with SSGC to impart GIS training, so that both the organisations could mutually benefit and assured his full support to the ongoing GIS projects.
The Managing Director of SSGC, Munawar Baseer Ahmad, said that his company is moving fast towards achieving its objectives of becoming the 'Most IT enabled company in Pakistan' and GIS a key link in achieving this target.
He said the company plans to integrate satellite data with billing and customer relations departments to improve customer services enabling the emergency teams to reach its customers in shortest possible time in any situation.
"The company is the first gas utility in the country acquiring such satellite images," he added.
Munawar Baseer Ahmad and Major General (Retd) Raza Hussain signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The ceremony was held at SSGC's Head Office.
