Some unknown miscreants blew up tower 698 of 500 KV Guddu-Dadu Circuit No 1 and tower 91 of 500 KV Guddu Circuit No 2 on Wednesday at 6:05 am simultaneously, said a Wapda's spokesman.
In a press statement he said, as a result tower 698 collapsed whereas adjoining towers 697 and 699 were partially damaged. All the four foundation supports of tower 91 were damaged but it did not fall down.
Power supply to the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan is fed from Guddu through two 500 KV transmission lines. Load shedding might have to be carried out in Sindh, which could continue till the erection of damaged tower. The rehabilitation work has been started and expected to complete in next week.
It is pertinent to mention that these transmission lines having separate routes hit at one and the same time, which indicate that it was a highly technical planned sabotage.
