The NWFP Assembly on Wednesday once again called for the implementation of the 7th Wage Board Award in the newspaper industry, and stoppage of the campaign of the publishing of advertisements against it in the newspapers forthwith.
In this connection, a joint resolution was tabled by the members from the opposition and treasury benches as the Speaker suspended rules under Section 240 of the Rules of Business of the house, and allowed Abdul Akbar Khan of the PPP-Parliamentarians, Maulana Amanat Shah of the MMA and Zafarullah Khan Marwat of the PML (N) to read out their identical resolutions.
The contents of the resolution were four provincial assemblies, including NWFP Assembly and the National Assembly has passed unanimous resolutions for the implementation of the Wage Board Award and linkage of the release of government advertisements with its implementation. However, it said all newspapers for last few days have launched a campaign against it through publishing advertisements in the newspapers.
It said the campaign launched by the newspaper owners and the publishing of the advertisements are liable to the contempt of the four elected provincial assemblies and the National Assembly, which is highly reprehensible.
The movers of the resolution said through this resolution, the NWFP Assembly demands of both the NWFP and federal governments to take action against this campaign at their levels and take actions to stop the publishing of such advertisements forthwith.
Similarly, the resolution also called for taking action against all elements in the contempt of the four elected provincial and national assemblies.
