Pakistan Muslim League President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Wednesday said Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali will remain in office as long as he enjoyed trust of the Parliament and the ruling party.
PML chief did not make a categorical assurance that Jamali would complete five-year term as Prime Minister.
The Chaudhry from Gujrat was talking to newsmen after the ruling coalition parties meeting at the Parliament House.
He advised the lawmakers to work for the nation building, rising above the party and personal interests.
However, Premier Jamali, who appeared confident and composed, said he enjoyed confidence of the ruling party, allies and above all the PML chief.
"The government and the opposition wants the political system and the Parliament to remain intact," Jamali said brushing aside reports of his removal.
In this regard, he contended that the position of the opposition parties was apparently quite clear, they wanted continuation of the system.
Combined opposition on the floor of the National Assembly on Tuesday pledged support to Jamali against any possible move to send him home.
In response to a question about a recent meeting between Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri and his Indian counterpart Natwar Singh in China, the Prime Minister said, "the meeting gave some positive indications about forward movement of the peace process."
Jamali, however, reiterated Pakistan's position on Kashmir issue, saying that both sides would have to resolve the long-standing issue on priority basis.
He said he would visit all the Saarc member states after Kasuri's report on the subject.
When asked about building new reservoirs, without naming Kalabagh dam, he said that big reservoirs must be constructed to overcome water scarcity.
"The government and opposition representatives always remain in touch," was his response when a reporter asked about his series of discussions with opposition leaders in the National Assembly during the budget session.
During the parliamentary parties meeting, earlier, he assured the lawmakers that development schemes would be completed in time for which instructions had been issued to the concerned departments.
Sources told Business Recorder that during the meeting, all the allied parties' legislators reposed full confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Jamali and asserted they would not back out from their commitment.
Earlier, PML chief Chaudhry Shujaat said the budget was for all and not for any specific section of the society, and it would be approved by the National Assembly in a proper and positive manner.
