Punjab University to hold entry tests for all programmes

Punjab University will hold entry tests for admission in all the programmes for the academic session 2004-05 starting from September this year.
The decision was taken in a meeting of admission committee held with vice-chancellor Arshad Mahmood in the chair here on Thursday.
Chairman admission committee Professor Dr Dil Muhammad Malik made a presentation on the occasion.
The meeting discussed general admission policy decisions and changes in admission criteria of the teaching departments. It was decided that the allocation of seats for the graduates of the Punjab University and other universities would not be made without a test taken by the department/institute/college of the university for any programme and all the eligible candidates would be called for the test.
It was also decided that the admission policy would be based on 70-percent academic record and 30-percent test proportion.
The meeting decided that the candidates will be required to secure at least 40 percent marks in the admission test for which the sample and outline will be displayed on the notice boards, one week before the admission test is held.
The vice-chancellor called for ensuring quality and standard of education instead of enhancing the number of students. The committee will again meet on 1st July to finalise the entry test criteria.
Director Institute of Education and Research Professor Dr Munawar Mirza, Professor Dr Kamran Mujahid, Professor Dr Muhammad Arif Butt, Professor Dr Akram Chaudhry, Professor Dr Nazir Ahmed and Professor Dr Moeen Mazhar attended the meeting.
