The Punjab government has framed the rules and parameters required for the approval of private housing societies.
According to the new standards, all private schemes will have to be developed within five years to enable the allottees build houses after buying the plots.
The new schemes will have to spare 2 percent to 10 percent for public buildings, 2 percent for graveyards, 2 percent to 5 percent for commercial buildings and 7 percent for parks and grounds.
According to a handout, the minimum land of a private scheme must be 100 kanals and a 30 feet wide access must be available. The area of the private scheme must not be included in any notified scheme of the government.
The owners will have to get the approval of the site plan; public notice fee, sale transfer deed, mortgage deed, water supply, sewerage supply, roads and street lights plan from government's concerned agencies and departments.
