The Swiss franc eased against the dollar in early trade on Friday as the greenback regained some ground lost after news of violence in Iraq and Turkey had knocked the US currency lower in the course of Thursday.
The dollar was at 1.2441/51 francs, compared with 1.2411/15 late on Thursday in Europe, but still well down on Thursday's opening levels at around 1.2554. The euro was at 1.5136/46 francs from 1.5115/20.
Attacks in Iraq killed nearly 100 people and blasts in Turkey left four dead. The franc, widely considered as a safe-haven currency, tends to rise in times of global upheaval.
Dollar sentiment is supported by market expectations of a US interest rate rise next week.
The Swiss National Bank pre-empted the Federal Reserve last week, tightening its monetary policy for the first time in four years.
