EU granted licences to import barley under quota

The European Union has granted licences to import 3,626 tonnes of barley under its annual tariff-rate quotas over the last week, EU data showed on Friday.
French grain office ONIC had said on Thursday, after the EU grains management committee that the EU had granted licences to import 3,000 tonnes of wheat under the Canadian quota. ONIC had not given the volume granted under the barley import quota.
EU grain import quotas are open for a total of 2.982 million tonnes of low and medium-quality wheat a year with a tariff of 12 euros a tonne, 300,000 tonnes of barley with a duty of 16 euros and 50,000 tonnes of malting barley at 8.0 euros a tonne.
