Pakistan Foreign Secretary Riaz H Khokhar on Saturday said here that Islamabad would approach the talks with New Delhi with great sincerity and seriousness.
He was talking to media men here at the Indira Gandhi International Airport soon after his arrival.
Khokhar said, "We will certainly approach these talks with great seriousness", expressing hope, that "we will be able to do some solid business".
Pakistan delegation at the talks led by Foreign Secretary will include Salman Bashir, Additional Secretary (AP), Aziz Ahmad Khan, Pakistan High Commissioner to India, Jalil Abbas Jilani, (DG-South Asian), Munawar Saeed Deputy High Commissioner, Masood Khan, DG-UN and Foreign Office spokesman, Zehra Akbari, Director (Kashmir), Tehmina Janjua, Director (FSO), Tariq Zamir, Director (India), Maryam Aftab, Deputy Director (KA) and Irfan Shaukat, AD (India).
Indian side, led by Foreign Secretary Shashank, will comprise new Indian Foreign Secretary-designate Shyam Saran, Joint Secretary, Arun K Singh, Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Shivshankar Menon and other officials of External Affairs Ministry.
India and Pakistan will start composite dialogue on Sunday at Hyderabad House. The talks are taking place in a cordial and friendly atmosphere with positive frame of mind, particularly after both countries concluded talks on Nuclear Confidence Building Measures last week besides broad agreement to resolve Baghliar Power Project issue between the two sides.
The composite dialogue process covers a set of eight key issues -two plus six - comprising Kashmir dispute, Peace and Security, Sir Creek, Wuller Barrage, Siachen, economic and commercial co-operation, terrorism and drugs and people to people contacts.
BUSINESS RECORDER CORRESPONDENT ADDS FROM LAHORE: Foreign Secretary Riaz Khokhar has said that Jammu and Kashmir was a focal point between India and Pakistan and expressed the hope that the issue would be addressed to its logical conclusion.
He expressed these views while talking to newsmen here on Saturday before his departure for New Delhi for foreign secretary-level talks between Pakistan and India. His wife, Masood Khan, Jalil Abbas Jillani, Tariq Zameer, Salman Bashir, Zehra Akbari, Tahmina Janjua and Irfan Shaukat accompanied him.
The foreign secretary further said that Pakistan was going to initiate a composite dialogue with India, while having a well-defined agenda.
"During talks with the Indian counterpart, they would discuss peace and security in the region, confidence-building measures (CBMs) and Kashmir.
Between June and August, six foreign secretary-level talks would be held to complete the groundwork on above issues," he added.
According to him, they were going to India with "serious, sincere, purposeful and creative approach" to seek solution to the problems confronting India and Pakistan.
The Pakistani delegation would approach the talks with open and constructive mind, and hopefully the Indians would reciprocate.
To a question, he said they were going with proposals, but at this moment they could not disclose it, and surely the Indians would also have proposals that they could not anticipate yet.
He said that the respective delegations have been given the mandate by their leadership to address fundamental issues poising the good relations between India and Pakistan.
"It was encouraging to note that both sides have shown boldness and creative approach during the recently held Indo-Pak talks," he added.
