The 2nd meeting of core group on biosciences concluded here on Saturday with a number of recommendations to be adopted to strengthen the field.
Advisor Comstech, Dr Anwar Nasim is Convener of the group formulated by Higher Education Commission (HEC).
During the meeting, the group members gave proposals on background and scope of bio-sciences, overview of the project, future planning, teacher training, workshops, symposia, refresher courses, projects evaluation, book writing proposals and resource center development in the field of bio-sciences.
According to HEC, the major objective of the meeting was to assemble senior faculty members of the discipline involved in teaching and research all over the country. The improvement and strengthening of the discipline including subjects of botany, zoology, mycology, molecular biology, genetics, bio-informatics and bio-technology was the main concern of the meeting.
The bioscience core group has eleven members and all of them belong to the public sector universities from all provinces of Pakistan.
