Former chairman Pakistan Sports Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PSGMEA) Mehboob Ahmad Sheikh has stressed upon the government to liberalise the import of all type of machinery and it should give a cash grant of 10 percent instead of imposing "curbs" (levies).
In a press statement issued here on Saturday, he said this practice would not only help industrialisation in the country but also generate employment and increase GDP, adding that it would certainly support in reducing social problems and generate revenue.
Mehboob Sheikh was of the opinion that this grant should be given to those importers of machinery who have got minimum 100 workers on their strength. "It is high time that we should follow the policies of Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia for ensuring industrial
development in a real sense in the country," he said, adding, "due to the effective industrial and economic polices these countries have become economic powers within short span of time."
Mehboob Sheikh stressed upon the concerned high-ups that these proposals should be adopted for ensuring economic revolution in the country.
