Combined opposition on Tuesday staged protest in the National Assembly against non-issuance of production orders of the acting President of Pakistan Muslim League (N), Makhdoom Javed Hashmi.
Secretary General of Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian, Raja Pervez Ashraf also challenged Pakistan Muslim League's president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain's nomination for the Prime Minister's slot saying that he is a bank defaulter.
The National Assembly proceedings were suspended for about twenty minutes due to opposition's protest.
The House witnessed uproar and opposition chanted slogans like "issue production orders of the Javed Hashmi" "release Hashmi" and "we will not allow dictatorship in the country."
Members of the National Assembly, Tehmina Daultana, Saad Rafiq and others continued their protest despite various requests of the Speaker National Assembly to restore normalcy.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy, Makhdoom Amin Fahim said that Javed Hashmi is an honourable member of this House therefore he must be allowed to attend this special session which is being held to choose the new Leader of the House.
He criticised that neither there is any democracy nor government respects the constitution.
Urging Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain, Makhdoom Amin said that Speaker is the custodian of this House therefore he has full authority to issue the production orders of Hashmi.
He accused that there is no freedom in this country, as Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Qazi Hussain Ahmed were not allowed to enter Karachi adding, "we condemn this act of highhandedness as there is no rule of law."
The Chairman ARD also condemned the murder of PML-N leader and former provincial minister, Peer Binyamin. He demanded of the government to give exemplary punishment to the culprits involved in this heinous crime.
