Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan on Tuesday said the visa restrictions on the bus service between occupied Srinagar and Muzaffarabad would be unacceptable.
Taking part in budget debate, he said the restrictions would impact the friendly exchange of relations between the two people of Kashmir, and they should not be prevented from keeping a close relationship between them by these unwarranted means.
He told the House that the budget was prepared keeping in view the good governance and people's welfare.
He said out of Rs 15 billion, Rs 4 billion were to be spent on 2.5 million population and Rs 11 billion only on 70,000 people, which was a great injustice to the poor of the state.
This massive injustice in the distribution of wealth was a big hurdle in the way of good governance, and assured the House that this inequality would soon be removed so that the poor could benefit the maximum.
Regarding the progress made on the issue of Kashmir, the AJK prime minister said: "If any breakthrough is to be achieved, it is to be achieved through involvement of the Kashmiris."
He lauded the policies of the Musharraf government, and his stand on Kashmir which had earned international fame due its impartiality. Sikandar Hayat urged the AJK people to facilitate the expansion work on Mangla Dam because Kashmir was a part of Pakistan, adding: "Anything that benefits Pakistan must benefit Kashmir as well".
