The Pakistan National Accreditation Council (PNAC), an autonomous organisation of the Ministry of Science & Technology, has been given the membership of Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Corporation (APLAC).
The PNAC has been invited by the APLAC to participate in its general body meeting to be held at Hanoi on December 5-10, which will sign Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRAs) to increase bilateral trade.
Under the WTO agreements, the role of recognised accreditation bodies is very important to enhance international trade.
To secure the membership, the PNAC has to complete a lot of formalities in accordance with the international requirements such as preparation and implementation of quality manual and working procedures, etc.
The council has completed all the formalities and applied for the membership of International Laboratory Accreditation Co-operation (ILAC).
