Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) acting president M. Saeed Shafiq congratulated former finance minister Shaukat Aziz on his nomination for the post of premier-ship.
The KCCI acting president said that prime minister-in-waiting Shaukat Aziz, having vast experience of finance, both internal and external, would prove to be a very successful Prime Minister.
He noted that his economic policies have already turned the corner particularly in respect of macroeconomic stability. His major achievement has been to get the country rid of the clutches of the IMF.
He contended that it was perhaps due to this reason that in the neighbouring country an economist of international repute, Dr Manmohan Singh, was preferred to be the Prime Minister over old guard.
This common phenomenon between the two prime ministers would help resolve many bilateral and regional problems due to better understanding on socio-economic problems, applying the same tools for resolving them.
He stressed that the policies initiated by Senator Shaukat Aziz were business- and investment-friendly.
He would, therefore, have the full support and co-operation of the business community of the country.
Earlier, KCCI president Siraj Kassam Teli, while leaving abroad, expressed similar views and recalled his identity of views with Senator Shaukat Aziz on various economic issues.
