The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has prepared information management system of its 24,000 employees from Grade-1 to Grade 21 including personal profiles for 1,500 tax officials (Grade 17 to Grade 21) to be used for transfers and postings, eliminating favouritism in future.
Sources said here on Friday that this is for the first time that the Human Resource Management (HRM) Wing has devised a Human Resource Information System (HRIS) containing information on tax officials of Grades 17 to 21.
The personal profiles include data on educational background of tax officials, courses, training, ACRs, addresses, place of posting, tenure of posting, foreign postings and other relevant information pertaining to posting.
The profiles would be used for career planning of tax officials, training and development of these officials as well, sources added.
The data would also help CBR in ascertaining reasons of deputing tax officials on a particular position for a long time. Moreover, it would eliminate all chances of favouritism and nepotism.
Sources said that the CBR has also finalised a new procedure to identify criteria of transfer and postings in field formations.
The profiles have been computerised so that the tax officials can retrieve data on a click on the computer. However, only 'decision makers' would have access to the system, which would become operational in due course of time, sources added.
