Pakistani rice prices remained stable amid dull trade over the last week and exporters said on Tuesday no major activity was expected in the coming weeks as they had exhausted stocks.
"In June exporters shipped around 150,000 tonnes of rice, boosting the exports to around 1.8 million tonnes this year," said Akbar Hashwani, a leading exporter.
In the previous season, Pakistan exported around 1.9 million tonnes of rice, dealers said.
Hashwani said exporters had no more than 30,000 to 40,000 tonnes of rice available.
"We do not see any major activity until the start of the new season sometime at the end of September."
Pakistan's crop year runs from April to November. Sowing normally starts in mid-April and harvesting begins in September, but peaks in October.
Rice output for the current fiscal year to June 30 is expected to be around 4.2 million tonnes, compared with domestic consumption of more than 2.0 million tonnes.
The final official figures for rice exports have not yet been announced.
Pakistani traders quoted export prices of $240-245 per tonne for IRRI-6 variety - almost unchanged against a week ago.
Dealers on Tuesday quoted 100-kg bags of IRRI-6 variety at 1,315/1,330 rupees, up from the previous week's 1,330/1,355.
