Scores of women belonging to the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration here at the Karachi Press Club against the proposed amendments in the Hudood Ordinance and blasphemy laws.
Women protestors were holding placards inscribed with slogans against government polices and amendments in the Hudood Ordinance and blasphemy laws.
Addressing the participants of the rally, MNA Muhammad Hussain Mehanti vehemently criticised the proposed amendments in these laws and warned that changes in them will not be tolerated.
"Resentment among people is growing after they have learnt that changes would be made in these laws," he said, adding, "MMA will protect these laws."
He warned that a massive campaign would be launched if rulers did not desist from their anti-Islamic policies.
Deputy parliamentary leader of MMA in Sindh Assembly Nasarullah Khan Shajee said the MMA would resist against the proposed amendments.
He demanded of the government to realise the feelings of the masses instead of obeying US directives.
MPA Younus Bari alleged that the proposed amendments in the Hudood Ordinance and blasphemy laws are being introduced by the government on directives of the United States.
PPP Karachi leader Haji Muzaffar Shajra also spoke on the occasion and ensured its support for the MMA campaign being launched against such amendments.
