Increased electricity demand in the present hot and humid weather and a shortage of 2100 megawatt electricity has forced Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) to ensure better load management.
A Fesco spokesman said on Tuesday that use of electricity had increased manifold these days, with maximum use of air-conditioners and other electric appliances.
Apart from this, the increased overall power consumption in rural areas and by industrial and agriculture sectors had disturbed the balance of demand and supply, particularly in north Punjab, he said.
He said power generation had also recorded a decline of 2100 megawatt due to unavoidable reasons, which had added to the load.
While the Fesco was making every effort towards effective load management to minimise problems faced by consumers in the given circumstances, he said the consumers must also co-operate by shutting off unnecessary electric appliances, particularly during the peak hours.
