The NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has said that consultations, financial discipline, justice based developmental policy and good governance has proved that MMA is a democratic force which came into power through democratic process.
Two previous budgets of the province have been passed unanimously and the government takes the opposition along, he added.
He was talking to Ms Ariene Ferrill, Principal Officer of American Consulate here at Chief Minister's Secretariat, Peshawar on Wednesday.
Enumerating the achievements of the MMA government, the chief minister said that to increase female literacy ratio, the government has taken unprecedented steps for increasing the ratio.
He said, the government has approved construction of female medical college and Women University.
He said that education up to primary level has been declared compulsory and free books have been provided to poor students. To ensure the presence of teachers in schools of backward areas, the government has recruited local staff, he added.
He said that a sports directorate for women has been approved, which will increase female participation in the sports.
Referring to the Wana situation, the chief minister said that the tribal are patriotic and religion loving.
They rendered sacrifices for the solidarity of the country and trust on the Ulema. We are for resolution of all problems through peaceful means and warned to apply the same mechanism in Wana, he added.
He said that economic curbs in Wana would increase worries of the tribal. He said that in tribal belt a strong Jirga system exists which could resolve all the complicated problems including the present crisis in Wana.
If resources spent on wars were diverted to provision of basic amenities to the poor people, definitely the world could become a cradle of peace. Wars create hatred, multiply problems and breed poverty.
The erstwhile USSR imposed war on Afghanistan but it was disintegrated, as nations cannot be suppressed through power.
Durrani said that Islam is a religion of peace and preaches brotherhood and fraternity. He said that there is no room for terrorism in our religion and killing of one person is tantamount to the killings of the entire humanity.
About Hasba Bill, the chief minister said that the passage of the bill will lessen burden on the existing judicial system and no article is against the constitution of our country. He said that journalists, bureaucrats and elites of the area would assist the Mohtasib.
The bill will discourage honour killing, Swara and ensure women rights. He further said that seminars would be arranged in Lahore and Karachi to remove apprehensions of the stakeholders.
