While expressing satisfaction over the law and order situation in the province, NWFP IGP Muhammad Raffat Pasha has directed the police high-ups to further enhance their supervision by tightening the noose against the outlaws and ensuring establishment of the writ of law.
"Although overall law and order is satisfactory, yet there is still a need to further improve it and protect the life, honour and property of the general public in a more effective manner," the police chief said, while chairing a high-level meeting on law and order in CPO Peshawar here on Wednesday.
Besides, Additional IGP headquarters Khurshid Alam Khan and Additional IGP and Chief Capital City Police Officer Masud Ahmad Paracha all the DIGs and DPOs attended the meeting.
Raffat said that real strength and success of the police was to get confidence and help of general public and directed them to keep close liaison with the public and restore their confidence by exhibiting decent behaviour and taking prompt and solution-oriented action to redress their complaints and grievances.
The police chief directed the of police officials to ensure registration of cases as per facts of the incident, otherwise they would be taken to task.
They were also asked that merit should be the only criteria in every sphere of the force and ensure that fund were judiciously used and selection of police Jawans for courses was properly done on merit basis.
The DIGs and DPOs were also asked to ensure that recruitment made in the force was strictly on merit and no one was denied of their due rights.
The police chief while taking strong exception of frequent road blocks in different parts of the province and lack of action against the law breakers said, "We need to take more legal and firm action against these people."
The officials were also directed to pre-empt and prevent occurrence of crime by taking prompt action, adding, "We need active policing to curb anti-social elements well-in-time." He also issued directives for sending progress report and follow-up in important cases.
Earlier, the meeting reviewed overall law and order situation in the province and termed it satisfactory. However, improvement in various units was noted for which necessary instructions were issued to the police high-ups.
