Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Masood Ali Shah has transferred the SP (Investigation) Sikandar Hayat, who failed to unravel the mystery of the murder of British educationist Alan Cox (60), and now Khurshid Ali was deputed in Multan to handle this case, whereas the intelligence agency has already declared it a terrorist activity.
Police failed to find any clue of the killers of Alan Cox in spite of elapsing 43 days, and all the suspects taken into custody for interrogation were released.
Now the Police have decided to shelve this case. However, Alan Cox's flat is still sealed and his computer and accessories are also in the custody of the police.
The police have been groping in dark for the last 43 days.
Alan Cox was assassinated on June 3 at 0800 pm in Multan city. Police have interrogated more than 200 people, including his students, neighbours, body builders, an assistant commissioner (income tax), and a Pathan of Fata, who would frequently meet him.
A high-level meeting was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Multan Range DIG Talat Mehmood Tariq, in which police officers discussed all aspects of the case. They admitted their failure in reaching any conclusion and apprehending the killers.
The DIG said: "We have interrogated more than 200 people, including the pupils, friends and neighbours, but we did not reach any conclusion. Though, we have collected many fruitful information from his computer, and list of his friends. More than 500 photographs of pretty boys, and pictures of study sessions, which were also attended by some other foreigners."
"Whenever we reached any conclusion, the cause of murder suddenly changed, Resultantly, we could not solve the mystery of this case as we have thoroughly examined the photo album of Alan Cox, which were preserved in the computer, but these could not help us", said the SP (Investigation).
He admitted that it was very difficult and blind murder case, mystery still shrouded, why they killed the educationist.
