Riaz Ahmed Tata, President of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), has urged the governments of Pakistan and India to allow issuance of five years visa for businessmen of the two countries.
While talking with newsmen here on Wednesday, he said that both governments have to improve communications and transportation and allow frequenter interaction and meetings between the businessmen of the two countries to improve two-way trade.
Tata said that the volume of trade between Pakistan and India amounted to 237 million dollars in 2003-04, which is negligible as compared to the big potential available for manifold increase in bilateral trade.
In the first instance, the two government will have to take concrete measures to stop smuggling and illegal trade on the borders, he added
He said that representatives of national business organisations of India and Pakistan should be actively involve in talks between the two countries on economic and commercial co-operation to be held in Lahore on August 11-12, 2004.
He welcomed the announcement of the schedule of composite dialogue on various issues between India and Pakistan, as agreed between the foreign ministers of the two countries, and expressed confidence that the talks would promote all round co-operation between the two countries and benefit the people.
