Syed Aley Maqbool Rizvi, Incharge Judge of Anti-Terrorism Court for Karachi Division on Thursday exonerated Dr Arshad Waheed and Akmal Waheed from charges of complicity in attack on the Corps Commander motorcade and Rangers firing case.
Earlier, the investigation officer submitted a report under Section 497(b) of CrPC, stating that insufficient evidence was available against the accused.
The police requested that the names of both brothers be dropped from the two cases. However, police sought physical remand of both accused in another case registered at Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station. Both doctors were charged with harbouring terrorists belonging to al Qaeda and treating terrorists, who were injured in different incidents of terrorism. The court remanded them in police custody till July 21.
