Speakers including thinkers, scholars and educationists from Pakistan and United States have called for removing the misperceptions, between the US and Muslim World created after 9/11.
They agreed on one point that close people to people interaction could arase negative impression that Pakistan or Muslim World is fanning the extremism and terrorism.
These views were expressed in a debate on "Bridge Building between USA and Muslim World" organised by a local English newspapers here on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Riffat Hussain Professor Humanities & Religious Studies University of Lousiville London said that the core objective of the debate is to discuss from where the misunderstanding between Islam and US started. She said the world today needs better understanding among civilisation to minimise the chance of conflict in future.
Dr Shireen M Mazari, Director General Institute of Strategic Studies (ISS) Islamabad said, "There is no civilisations clash between Islam and Western World, terming it merely a political conflict causing misperceptions".
Distortion of the term terrorism also fuelled the confusion, which undermined the security and stability of the entire world, she added. She said Pakistan had condemned the killing of an American journalist Daniel Pearl at state level but there were countless Pakistani who had maltreated or lost their lives in United States in the past but nobody uttered a word.
She further added: "The people involved in 9/11 terrorist incident were not trained in religious Madaris but got education in Western institutions".
Head of the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI), Dr Pervez Akhtar Cheema urged United Nations and United States that freedom/liberation movements around the globe should be dubbed as terrorist.
He said that there is dire need to focus on injustice, inequality and illegitimacy in Palestine, Kashmir and Iraq which turned the opinion of Muslim World against United States.
Dr Fred Mendick, President 'Teachers without Borders' USA apologised for what he called inhuman treatment of American security officials with Pakistani visitors immigrants saying that it all happened the prextext of 'homeland' security high alert.
President of Law Lausive De Brandeis School of Law, Dr Robert Stranger said all possible efforts are being made to undertake similar initiatives throughout to avert future conflicts.
