Federal Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat has opened the second Swift Registration Centre at Pakistan High Commission Consulate Birmingham late Thursday and urged the expatriates to ensure its success by getting National Identity Cards for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP).
Speaking on the occasion, he impressed upon the overseas Pakistanis to register themselves to get NICOP, which was very important and useful document. The first Swift Centre was inaugurated by him at the Pakistan High Commission London on July 19.
He said NICOP was part of security apparatus being put in place to ensure registration of all Pakistani nationals and overseas expatriates to prepare a proper database. It will also help check those foreign extremist elements, who were using fake identity and were bringing bad name to the country.
British Muslim MP Khalid Mehmood, Deputy Lord Mayor of Birmingham Khawaja Mehmood Hussain, Pakistan High Commission Consul in Birmingham Shujaat Rathore, Nadra Chairman Brigadier Saleem Moeen, Director Operations Nadra Brigadier Babar Mirza (Retd), many elected councillors, community leaders of the overseas Pakistanis and a large number of expatriates were present on the occasion.
The government, Faisal Saleh Hayat said, would not allow any part of the country to become a no-go area and was determined to establish the writ of the state.
Referring to the Wana operation, he said every effort was made to minimise the collateral damage and that was the reason Pakistani rangers had suffered loss of many precious lives. However, he reiterated the resolve not to allow any one to use the country's soil for carrying out terrorist acts.
