Pakistan would soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Thailand for providing expertise and technical assistance to the Thai education ministry for main streaming the religious seminaries.
This was decided during a meeting between Minister for Education Zobaida Jalal and the visiting delegation of Thai-Pak Parliamentary Friendship Group on Friday.
The minister hoped that the existing relations between the two countries would be strengthened further through the co-operation in the education sector, says a press release.
She termed the education as a cornerstone of the country's education policy.
Zobaida briefed the delegation about the country's efforts in bringing the Madaris into the mainstream of the society. She said the governments' intention to reform the Deeni Madaris was based on goodwill and is induced with the spirit to help and facilitate the Madaris, as they are the major source of providing free education to the poor children across the country.
The delegation asked the Minister to provide the technical expertise to Thailand for initiating the streamlining of Madaris on the same lines as that of Pakistan.
The Thai delegation thanked the Government of Pakistan for reactivating the MPs exchange programme after the laps of six years. It also appreciated the Pakistan's economic policies and the representation given to the women in the Parliament.
Both sides expressed their satisfaction over the ongoing co-operation in the bilateral relations between the two countries.
