I have seen a letter in the Business Recorder, of Abdul Shakoor Umer, regarding the Central Board of Revenue, which has fixed the rate of customs duty on the import of cars.
It means that nobody can import cars for their personal use and local makers have been successful in fixing customs duty on cars through their relations with government officials the custom duty on 800CC cars is $4000, plus other taxes, whereas the rates of other cars are more than as announced.
The announcement of the Central Board of Revenue will benefit the local makers and discourage the general public interested in importing cars for their personal use.
I request the high officials of the government department to kindly look into this matter
