A colourful award distribution ceremony at the conclusion of one-month "Summer Vacation Camp" for children organised by Islamabad Capital Territory Police (ICTP) was held here on Saturday with a dog show and exhibition of martial art skills as the main features.
Some 180 children were imparted basic computer and martial arts training with the English language course at the camp, which was primarily organised with a purpose to build confidence of people in ICTP, said a statement issued after the ceremony.
The event started with an acrobatic exhibition of martial art and gymnastic skills by the children aged between 5-15 who were trained at the camp.
Many boys and girls exhibited individual and group skills mainly jumping ropes, stretching and making bridges by standing on the shoulders of each other.
The show was given a fabulous touch when these boys and girls started breaking burning slides with their hands and heads and jumping through a fire ring.
The impressive performance of dogs trained at Army and Police Centres, and some privately owned, was another feature of the ceremony later in the evening session. The dogs of various species enthralled the participants with their skills.
However, it was the dogs belonging to the Army who stole the show while performing outstandingly on the instructions of their trainers and showing extreme obedience.
Senior Superintendent Police Islamabad, Shahid Nadeem Baloch, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that the camp was a part of the policy to bridge the gap between the public and the police department.
He said that ICTP would try to make such activities a permanent feature to restore confidence of the masses in the police department.
At the end of the ceremony, the prizes and certificates were distributed among the children, who participated in different activities during the camp.
