Chief Executive Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco), Brigadier Tahir Saeed Malik has said that Pesco has planned spending Rs 7 billion during the current fiscal for improving power supply system in NWFP.
This he said while briefing Federal Minister for Water & Power, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao about the performance of Pesco, said a press release issued here on Sunday.
Chief Executive Pesco said the company has made a substantial reduction in its line losses and increased recovery by 11 percent.
Against previous years figures of Rs 18 billion, the company has made a recovery of Rs 27 billion this year, he said.
The Federal Minister was also informed that except from Southern Districts where system is overloaded due to closure of Chasma Power Plant, no load-shedding is done in any part of the province.
In the past few months, he said, 1787 out of order transformers were replaced with new ones.
In the current year, he continued, Rs 250 million were spent on construction of new grid stations and hundreds of metres long transmission line was laid at a cost of Rs 300 million.
Work on mega projects for improving the power supply system in NWFP was also in progress and soon 220 kV Daud Khel to Domial line will complete at cost of Rs 2 billion.
Similarly, he continued, for providing relief to subscribers of Peshawar and Mardan, work on Shahi Bagh grid station and transmission line was in progress, which will cost Rs 1.6 billion.
For solving the overloading problem of Burhan and improvement in power transmission in Hazara, construction of 220 kV Grid station and new transmission line was approved.
The Federal Minister was also requested for early release of funds for these mega projects, which were vital for solving power related problems in the province.
During the briefing, the Federal Minister expressed concern over news reports about charging of TV license fee from mosques.
The Federal Minister was informed that some mosques have not been registered with Pesco as 'worship places' and therefore were served with such bills.
Aftab Sherpao later directed for correction of Mosque codes in computer thin a period of one month.
He also assured the Pesco authorities that the issue of road blockade and protest over power outage will be taken up with provincial government.
