Pakistan Workers Confederation (PWC) has demanded resignation of federal minister for food and agriculture on his failure to protect the interests of small growers which also resulted in loss to the government due to import of huge quantity of wheat.
A resolution to this effect was adopted in a meeting of the confederation held here on Monday.
The meeting maintained that 60 percent labour force of the country is associated with agri sector of Pakistan and the wrong government policies are main hurdles in achieving the goal of self-sufficiency in wheat production.
The meeting also expressed its concern over the unsafe working conditions in industrial unit of Pak-Arab Fertiliser Factory, Multan. It also demanded of the government not to send its forces to Iraq in the larger interests of the country.
The meeting also decided that working class of the country would observe protest day on July 28, in protest against price hike.
