Suspected freedom fighters decapitated a woman in Indian occupied Kashmir and left her head hanging in a tree, police said on Thursday, adding that six other people were killed in the restive state.
Police were investigating the motive for the beheading of Shameema Akhter near the town of Tral, 40 kilometres south of the Indian occupied Kashmiri occupied Srinagar, a police spokesman said.
None of the dozen freedom fighter groups fighting Indian occupation troops in Indian occupied Kashmir has claimed responsibility for the murder.
In other violence, freedom fighters shot dead a pro-government militant in southern Anantnag district and a civilian in Udhampur district, further south, police said.
Indian occupation troops, meanwhile, shot dead three freedom fighters in northern Kupwara and southern Poonch districts overnight in two separate encounters, police said, adding that a suspected smuggler died in southern Pulwama district early Thursday in cross-fire between freedom fighters and Indian occupation troops.
