One US soldier died of his wounds after his patrol was attacked on Thursday with small arms fire near the town of Hawija in northern Iraq, the military said.
The attack happened at about 1:00pm near Hawija, west of the northern oil city of Kirkuk.
Another US soldier has been killed and three others have been wounded when a home-made bomb exploded north-west of Baghdad, the US military said Thursday.
The Baghdad-based soldier was killed in the bomb attack, which also wounded three of his comrades and a civilian at 4:45pm Wednesday, said a statement.
