One after another all steps taken by the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) to slash the duty drawback is producing harsh reaction from the exporters demanding its withdrawal.
The Central Board of Revenue has slashed duty drawback on exports of polyester fabric and garments through a notification on July 26.
"The CBR has taken the decision to change the duty-drawback without consulting the stakeholders", said Khalid Amin, chairman, Silk and Rayon Mills Association.
Earlier, the CBR had reduced the duty drawback on exports of polyester-based products, which was widely criticised.
The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) took the decision as challenge and exerted pressure on the CBR to withdraw the new reduction in rebate, adding the government slightly improved the duty-drawback instead of restoring the old rates, which are still a big issue for the Association.
The Silk association viewed the decision as against the exporters and urged the government not to create problem for the exporters.
