Federal Defence Minister, Rao Sikandar Iqbal has said that PPP would be organised and activated at all levels and the process was going to be launched from Saturday.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, he announced that the party had nominated office bearers to its central organisation.
Rao Sikander Iqbal was nominated as chairman, Aftab Sherpao, President, Mian Muzaffar, Vice President, Chaudhry Nouraiz Shakoor, Senior Vice President, Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat, Secretary General, and Major Tanveer Hussain (Retd) Secretary Information. He said that MNA Dr Sher Afgan Niazi would be the party parliamentary leader in the National Assembly.
He said that central leadership will visit the four provinces from Saturday and nominate provincial office bearers of the party to actively participate in local bodies elections.
"We shall be visiting Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar. The party office bearers for Balochistan would be nominated from Karachi," he said.
He said that Shaukat Aziz was joint nominee of all the allied parties of the ruling coalition. "Our party was taken into confidence before Shaukat Aziz's nomination for the slot of the Prime Minister," he said.
In reply to a question, he said that Benazir Bhutto must come back to the country and face the courts. "The question of PPP merger with Makhdoom Amin Fahim-led PPP-Parliamentarians does not arise," he said.
"The party will continue to pursue Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's unaccomplished mission. By and large, our mission will remain the same," said federal minister for water and power Aftab Ahmad Sherpao.
However, he said that the party would set up a special committee for framing the party's manifesto. He said the party was not in contact with Benazir Bhutto.
Sherpao said that Pakistan People's Party Patriots and Pakistan People's Party (Sherpao) merged on June 1. The Election Commission, after a long hearing, registered the party under the same name.
"This is sufficient as Benazir Bhutto-led PPP had participated in the last general elections as PPP-Parliamentarians. Our party is the real PPP," he asserted.
He further said we are coalition partners with the government and we will remain allies of the ruling PML not only in LB polls, but in the next general elections as well.
Sherpao said all MNAs and senators are members of Central Executive Committee. All the provinces will have equal representation in the CEC. For this purpose, the party leaders from the provinces will be nominated to CEC whose total strength will be increased from the present 20 to 30 members.
The party will hold worker conventions in Lahore and other cities later on in other provincial capitals including Quetta.
