Small farmers are perturbed over non-availability of easy credit and leasing facilities. Small farmers, having a meeting with Unisame on Friday complained that banks and leasing companies were appearing reluctant to lease their tractors and other farming equipment without equity.
They demanded easy loans and lease of their equipment/transport vehicles without equity on affordable mark up for cultivation purposes.
They further mentioned that they were already perturbed over adequate water supply to their fields as the big land owners interrupted their water supply lines and cut off it to the small farmers as they were not in a position to approach the concerned authority.
They also complained against the bogus pesticides, fumigation chemicals and high cost of seeds and diesel.
They endorsed the proposal of the union to allocate untitled land laying vacant all over the country to SME farmers on easy terms and low mark up to enable them to utilise the barren land and increase their yield.
They further urged on Export Promotion Bureau to set up centres in interior for the promotion of the flower industry and to develop herbal plants industry by arranging and promoting exhibitions of herbs and crude drugs.
